CAPOSTO alumni  canvases transformation in schools

Christ  Apostolic Church Grammar Grammar School, CAPOSTO, Efon- Alaaye, Ekiti State, has called for the need for a  transformational change in schools, with a view to churning out good ambassadors of the country in the future.

To achieve this, it has called on alumni of various schools to assist their alma mater  in different ways geared towards eradicating poverty and promoting developmental growth.

CAPOSTO ‘s President General, Dr Adekunle Ojo, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN made the call yesterday, at a press briefing to herald the 63rd  Founder’s Day anniversary and global reunion festival of CAPOSTO, in Ikeja, Lagos.

Lamenting the decadence in education and its socio-economic impact on society, Ojo,  marveled that cultism which was hardly heard of in his university days, had encroached into Primary and Secondary schools today.

To address this, he said old student of COPOSTO would be gathering in Ekiti between  November 15, 2023, through November 18, 2023, to attempt to shift emphasis from the Machiavelli approach, through creating in the students the awareness of opportunities ahead of them and how education could be used to defeat poverty.

The 53rd anniversary themed “ ‘Transforming CAPOSTO: The Boulevard Back to the days of distinction ‘,  according to him, was aimed at achieving some benefits among which are to “ensure a plush and strong projection of CAPOSTO’s values, heritage, inspirations and contributions to the growth of human and educational resources in Ekiti State, Nigeria and the World.

“ Attract the students’ attention to the ideals, values, comportments and the ingredients of true leaders; to stabilize CAPOSTO as a competitive network which serves as the door to access top and clean bureaucrats, policymakers and political determinants in the society;  put in place open doors that will enable the School, CAPOSTO, access international development programs and for C.A.C Grammar School to be adopted and acknowledged as one of the legacy institutions in Ekiti ,by the Ekiti State Government”, he highlighted.

While noting that no  nation  or people could  successfully fight against poverty  and grow in the face of lack of education and inability to access equal right to education, Ojo posited that  education would  not only enable one to understand one’s right but would also  enable one to employ his  rights to tackle and defeat poverty.

He said,“it is important to appreciate the needs of the citizens to have full awareness of the laws of the country and the opportunities for growth and prosperity. Consequently, mere enactment of law is insufficient to put the law in motion unless and until, the instrument of education is applied to ensure that the law is communicated to the people it is intended to govern. It will open them to know that they are entitled to equal access to economic resources, rights to food, employment etc.

“We, however, need to de-colonize our educational system in Africa. If by now the necessary knowledge, skills and manpower are lacking, then, what is the use of our polytechnics and universities? Education that is not connected with the gifts and resources God has given us. If our children do not have capacity and skills to move us forward, then why did they go to school? Then the weakest link to Nigerian prosperity is the education system. We should prioritize our needs and teach them, even from the basic schools”.

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti state, prophet Ezekiel Oladeji , Evangelist Bola Are, former Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof.Dipo Kolawole and former Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof E.A Bamgboye, all old students of the C.A.C school, are expected to grace the anniversary.
