As stated earlier, the theme of the Anniversary is: TRANSFORMING CAPOSTO: THE BOULEVARD BACK TO THE ERA OF DISTINCTION.  We shall be using the anniversary to achieve the following goals and more:

1.         Ensure a plush and strong projection of CAPOSTO’s values, heritage, inspirations and contributions to the growth of human and educational resources in Ekiti State, Nigeria and the World.

2.         Attract the students’ attention to the ideals, values, comportments and the ingredients of true leaders.

3.         To stabilize CAPOSTO as a competitive network which serves as the door to access top and clean bureaucrats, policy makers and political determinants in the society.

4.         Put in place open doors that will enable the School, CAPOSTO, access international development programs.

5.         For C.A.C Grammar School to be adopted and acknowledged as one of the LEGACY INSTITUTIONS in Ekiti by the Ekiti State Government.

6.         Cultivate a strong visibility of our BRAND (CAPOSTO) as a LEGACY INSTITUTION in the whole country.

7.         Serve as an opportunity for reminiscence, old school reunion,

8.         Creating in the students the awareness of opportunities ahead of them and how education can be used to defeat poverty.

Education remains the weak link, which is often ignored, in the fight against poverty and developmental growth.

No nation and no people can successfully fight against poverty, and grow in the face of lack of education and inability to access equal right to education. Education will not only enable you understand your rights, it will also enable you employ your rights to tackle and defeat poverty.  Law is not all about the decisions of the courts, the laws enacted by the legislatures, the prosecutions by the police prosecutors and the formal institutions that have direct relationship with the law; it is also the normative system that resides in the minds of the citizens of a society. Hence, it is important to appreciate the needs of the citizens to have full awareness of the laws of the country and the opportunities for growth and prosperity. Consequently, mere enactment of law is insufficient to put the law in motion unless and until, the instrument of education is applied to ensure that the law is communicated to the people it is intended to govern. It will open them to know that they are entitled to equal access to economic resources, rights to food, employment etc.

We, however, need to de-colonize our educational system in Africa. If by now the necessary knowledge, skills and manpower are lacking, then, what is the use of our polytechnics and universities. Education that is not connected with the gifts and resources God has given us. If our children do not have capacity and skills to move us forward, then why did they go to school? Then the weakest link to Nigerian prosperity is the education system. We should prioritize our needs and teach them, even from the basis schools.  In rounding up, I humbly urge your support to the best of your abilities for our Anniversary /Global Reunion.  Thank you.

Dr Adekunle Ojo, SAN
